COLOR QUESTIONS

Q: Can the color be guaranteed?
A: It is recommended that a color match proof is ordered or that our color safe key is utilized which will allow you to have a reasonable expectation of color output. Although it is impossible to definitively match a given color, these colors are considered safe and less susceptible to large shifts in appearance.

Q: If I'm reordering can the color be the same as the last time?
A: It is not possible that the colors can be matched perfectly from job to job. If you use our safe color key the color will be much more predictable to the color you intend.

Q: Will the same colors vary in output when printed on different paper stocks?
A: It is possible that the same colors may vary as light hits the different coatings and materials our eyes are presented with variations of the color.

Q: Why does the final print job look different from how it looked on my monitor?
A: When viewing artwork on a monitor you are viewing in RGB which is Red / Green / Blue gamut. Printing is done in CMYK - Cyan / Magenta / Yellow / Black. Please prepare your files in CMYK mode in your photo editor to get a better understanding of setting up your colors.

Q: Can I request a template for a custom order?
A: Yes, we can provide or create a custom template for you for free. Please allow 2-3 days to receive a custom template.

Q: Can I print using CMYK and match a PMS color?
A: Usually it is not a good idea because PMS color match books use a different color formula to produce ink therefore the color cannot be exact.
Job File Questions

Q:What happens if I create the wrong canvas size compared to the size of what I actually ordered, what do you guys usually do?
A:Given a minor difference in size, our staff will adjust to the size ordered. If the difference is too large you will be notified and asked to resubmit your artwork. If a response is not received in 8 hours we have the right to print the artwork as is.

Q:What if the files I submitted are in RGB?
A:All artwork is required to be submitted in CMYK. All RGB artwork will automatically be converted. Color shift may occur and we cannot be held responsible for any color shifts.

NOTE: Your color will change so please use CMYK mode to create your artwork.

Q:If my files are submitted without any bleed?
A:The output is your responsiblity. The job may not look the way you intended and text left around the edges may be cut off.

Q:Do you calibrate the color?
A:Usually yes, We usually calibrate the color without notice in order for you to get the best results. For example, most designers think 95% C, with 95% M will print blue which is incorrect. Because 95% C and 95% M may appear to be blue on you monitor does not mean it will print blue in the printing process. GR will adjust your blue to 95% C, 70% M, 0% Y, anD 7% K to get better results. Using our Safe Color Key will help attain a more accurate representation of what you are looking for.

Q:I would like to follow your file requirement standards but how can I get that info?
A:You can take a look at our file set up guide and using our file templates within our website. If you can not understand the files or content you are more than welcome to contact us at 1-646.342.8016.
